The Recruitment Process
Structured Interview
We’ve designed this type of interview to collect evidence of your past performance relating to specific competencies. We’ll give you a set of questions about these competencies and ask you to provide examples of your performance from past experience. For the most senior posts, we use a combination of structured interviews also known as Topgrading to select candidates.
In-Tray exercise
This is a written exercise which simulates the typical paperwork that will confront you on a day-to-day basis. We usually base it on a fictitious company where you have to step into a jobholder’s place at short notice and deal with the letters, faxes, reports and other documents that may arrive.
Written Exercise
We may also use a written report or letter-writing exercise when written communication and analysis is a key aspect of the role.
Presentation
We sometimes introduce presentations to measure your oral communication skills. You’ll be given a brief that’s relevant to the job and be asked to give a presentation lasting approximately 10-15 minutes.
Role-Play
If contact with customers or other employees is a key element of the role in question, we might incorporate a role-play situation into the assessment centre. This might simulate a sales meeting, counselling session or disciplinary interview.
